NOTICE OF SERIES

The Atlantic Ocean Racing Series 2019 is organized by the Royal Yacht Squadron, the New York Yacht Club, the Royal Ocean Racing Club and the Storm Trysail Club.

1 MANAGEMENT

1.1 The New York Yacht Club Regatta Association, Inc. is the Organizing Authority (OA) for the Atlantic Ocean Racing Series 2019. The Organizing Committee for the Race comprises the Royal Yacht Squadron (RYS), New York Yacht Club (NYYC), Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) and Storm Trysail Club (STC). The Authority and Committee will work in concert with host clubs for each of the individual races in planning and conducting the Atlantic Ocean Racing Series 2019.

1.2 Participating yacht clubs will include organizing yacht clubs for each of the five qualifying regattas.

1.3 The OA will have the authority to interpret the conditions governing the series and reserves the right to accept or reject the entry of any yacht.

2 RULES

Participation in each qualifying race will be subject to the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions for each individual event.

3 ELIGIBILITY & ENTRY

3.1 Individual Entry: All yachts entering the Transatlantic Race 2019 plus any two of the selected events in the Atlantic Ocean Racing Series 2019 shall be deemed to be entered in the Atlantic Ocean Racing Series. There is no entry form.

3.2 There is no entry fee to participate in the Atlantic Ocean Racing Series 2019.

4 SCORING

4.1 The Atlantic Ocean Racing Series 2019 consists of five races. In order to qualify, a participating yacht shall compete in a minimum of three races, one of which shall be the Transatlantic Race 2019.

4.2 The four qualifying races and their starting dates are:
RORC Caribbean 600 February 18, 2019
Antigua – Bermuda Race 2019 May 8, 2019
Transatlantic Race 2019 June 25, 2019
Rolex Fastnet Race August 3, 2019
Rolex Middle Sea Race October 2019

4.3 A minimum of ten (10) IRC yachts must start in a qualifying race for that race to count in the Atlantic Ocean Racing Series 2019.

4.4 Races will be weighted equally at 1.0 with the exception of the Transatlantic Race 2019 which will be weighted at 1.5.

4.5 Series Points will be awarded in IRC overall notwithstanding any class combination or division in a particular race. Points are the points awarded through the Cox – Sprague system. See the table in Addendum A to this Notice of Series. RRS Appendix A is changed: paragraphs A2, A4 and A9 shall not apply.

4.6 A yacht’s score for the Atlantic Ocean Racing Series 2019 will be the sum of her points, as described in paragraph 4.5, for the Transatlantic Race, multiplied by 1.5, and her two highest scoring qualifying races, multiplied by 1.0. Yachts will be ranked by total score, with the highest score winning the Series.

5 PRIZES

Prizes will be awarded for individual entries. A perpetual trophy will be awarded to the overall winner.

6 PRIZE AWARDS

Prizes will be awarded at the New York Yacht Club annual awards dinner at the 44th Street Clubhouse in New York City in November 2019. All prize winners will be invited to attend. Interpretation of the terms of all trophies and prizes will be by the OA.
